PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The Country Accounting Manager is overall responsible for managing the finance for all entities of AP Moller Maersk in Uganda Including the shipping, Logistics, Depot, warehouse business as well as forthcoming projects. The responsibilities include financial reporting & analysis for the country, Business Performance management, statutory compliances, Project management from financial perspective, and providing support to the Country Manager, Area Leadership Team ( ALT) with accurate, timely, and comprehensive quality.

It is the Accounting Manager’s responsibility to ensure that appropriate financial controls and policies are in place. The incumbent is expected to be committed to supporting the corporate and business strategies, adding value and maintaining close and strong relationship with all stakeholders.

The role is based in Kampala, Uganda.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Formulate and execute business strategy – in line with Area / Regional / Global strategy.
Maintaining the accounting books and systems including reconciliation of accounts and necessary accruals.
To ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, information and expertise to relevant decision makers and stakeholders.
Ensure accurate & timely preparation of financial statements, financial reports and other reporting
Project management and ensuring liquidity for the project
Complete monthly and year end book close and necessary management reporting to Maersk regional office.
Assist in development /uplifting of finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
Conduct regular audits to ensure performing as per global processes.
Budget preparations
Risk management
Statutory compliances
Coordinate with Global shared service center to ensure right quality of reporting and controls
Management of AR and AP execution, control and reporting.
Responsible for fixed assets-related tasks (creation, change, disposal/sale, report review).
Conducting Board meetings
Assist with development, implementation, and management of financial KPI reporting.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

A dedicated and qualified candidate having the ability to make a difference:
Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACMA, ACA, CPA or equivalent is a must
7+ Solid Experience in Finance and Accounting
5 years Experience in a multinational as Finance manager or similar or Experience in Big 4 is a must
Knowledge of project/investment analysis
Knowledge of Tax laws
Knowledge of and experience with SAP – Preferred
Analytical Mindset for supporting business
Excellent Stakeholder Management skills
